Nursery Design Challenge

Joanna Landais X Blue Almonds

Making the Impossible Possible

We challenged Joanna Landais from EKLEKTIK STUDIO to make the impossible possible.

Design a nursery space two ways - first as an imaginative and unique baby nursery, then as a playful and magical toddler space.

This transformation isn't just design — it's storytelling, childhood, and creativity in motion. Because when you design with heart and imagination… pigs really can fly

Stage 1: The Nursery Concept

To create a nursery that is both functional and imaginative, Joanna recommends choosing nursery furniture that is not just stylish, but stands the test of time.

Next, to create a cohesive look, Joanna recommends choosing a common theme - such as colour - and try to include it in every element.

Transitioning from Nursery to Toddler Space

It's all about the textiles and the accessories. They can truly transform a project. We shift from delicate, whimsical patterns to bolder, more grown-up designs.

Add some quirky educational posters or wall décor and the space is magically transformed.

Stage 2: Toddler Space Concept

Making the impossible possible - Joanna created an imaginative toddler space that reuses the same furniture as the baby nursery, while adding a few surprises - such as the slide!

"I enjoy demonstrating how accessorising a room can lead to dramatic transformations"
